Good action shot - I like the way the face is framed between the backs of two heads. I might crop it slightly at the top to remove the black thing at the top of the image. If possible under PJ rules I might darken down the background - particularly the white chairs .  Score 8.

Linda Speh

I really appreciate this kind of PJ shot. Imagine how fast the ball must be moving to make a blur with your fast lens and camera settings. I don’t know if it could be better if the flash had fired. The expression on the players face adds to the drama of the play. You were very fortunate to catch them all in the air simultaneously. I only wish the chairs were more in focus…they are not moving at all so I guess your camera was set for more center weighted metering than for a pattern. This is one of the challenges I have been having also. Too many settings to think about before I start shooting. Good shot. 8

Alan Thiese

Excellent Action shot. All players feet in the air. Excellent detail. No suggestions for improvement. Score 9.
Alex Lane Good Catch: All of the feet are off the ground, ball is in the air with the players reaching for it! Alex (9)
Subhash Sapru What a jump and as the players are jumping together, the viewer can concentrate on the action I would have cropped a bit from top and bottom to omit two small dark brown distractions.-9

John Larson - Biography

Welcome to the very first PJ digital study group, and I am looking forward to an educational and fun experience. Just a little bit in the way of a biography and about some of my interests.
I am almost 62 years young, a retired engineer now teaching math and married to Ruth. For thirty-eight years I worked as an engineer with both General Electric and Marathon Electric. During that time my responsibilities included managing all of the engineering computer efforts, primarily CAD and CAM. I also had the opportunity to use the computer (IBM compatible) for many reports and presentations related to work. At my college we are using several multimedia programs and the internet to deliver Online Courses.
I am now in my fifth generation of a home PC, starting with a Radio Shack Color Computer (just a couple of years ago, ha ha) and now with a clone Pentium IV. My first digital adventures were by having slides scanned to CDs, then a Canon D-30, followed by a Digital Rebel (just replaced by Canon 20D) and for my ski jacket a Canon S-50. Some of my other hobbies are photography, started with some classes in 1991, joined PSA in 1994 and sports of several varieties, especially skiing in winter. This combination gives me an excellent chance to blend for example skiing and photography and now computers and photography.
I exhibit in PSA exhibitions and have three stars in Color, three stars in PJ and one star in electronic imaging. I am a member of the PJ Slide Study group chaired by June Stone. I am the administrator for a printer-based version of Digital Imaging under the Print Division and have been a member of that group for about five years. I am anxious to get started in this PJ Digital Study group as that will reduce the need for me to make slides at some time. You may note on my web site that I do have the ability to convert digital files to slides and that is available to you if needed.
I look forward to reviewing all of your work and look forward to your comments. Please visit my web site listed below for more about me and more of my images. Thanks for joining me in this group.
